Some things never change!

How to make your car last longer from Feb 1946 Mechanix Illustrated.
1.  Change your engine oil and oil filter element on a regular basis.
2.  Keep your air filter clean and oiled and purchase a new one every year.
3.  Use the ethyl gas if your car requires it and always buy the best quality gasoline you can.
4.  Wash and clean your car regularly.
5.  Check tire pressures at least once a week.
6.  Replace your brake shoes every 20,000 miles.
7.  If your automobile starts making a strange noise or starts vibrating have it  inspected by a mechanic immediately. The longer you drive that way, the  more expensive it will get.
8.  Buy the best tires you can afford. We realize because of the War rubber
 is in short supply.
9.  If your clutch starts slipping replace it immediately.
10.Get yearly tune ups.
11.Flush your cooling system every year or 10,000 miles.

For the modern day M5 I would also ad to this list, buy a Peake reader.
