Finding the right M5

A good friend of mine wanted a " really nice E39 M5." He was surprised that he had to fly down to Florida to bring his low mileage Beast back after the PPI. If you don't want to settle for what's in the area and get what you want, you're probably going to have to travel to bring home your M5. Even after the PPI report, that long drive home will get you familiar with the M5 and help you set your priorities on what you want to do first in the areas of restoration or modification. The first thing he did when he got home was change the engine oil with some TWS, change the differential fluid, and have the wheels aligned and balanced.
The second thing he's going to do is buy a radar laser detector. He was stopped on I-75 in Georgia for speeding by the highway patrol. Lucky for him, the patrolman was a BMW enthusiast and owned an E39 528i, so the talk in the car was mainly about BMWs and he got off with just a warning.
