Have new cars become too electronic?

Some of the major reasons E39 M5 owners cite for loving their cars are the facts that it only comes in a 6 speed manual, there's no I-drive to fiddle with and distract you, the only electronics they regularly use are the radio, CD player and secret menu, and they feel the size and level of luxury is "just right" for a sports sedan. Many owners find themselves going back to the E39 after selling theirs. One owner explained it like this, "Driving the (E39) M5 is like your health, you don't appreciate it and realize how incredible it is till it's gone."
