M5 Road Trip Part 2

Made it through the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado on I70 yesterday. The tunnel carries Interstate 70 under the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. With a maximum elevation of 11,158 ft (3,401 m) above sea level, it is one of the highest vehicular tunnels in the world. The tunnel is the longest mountain tunnel and highest point in the US Interstate Highway system. The M5 ran cool with the water temperature gauge at 12 o'clock. Due to the elevation and uphill grades in 4th gear, fuel consumption was 19 mpg.
After we got settled in at Vail we headed out for what has been described as the highway made especially for sports cars (also one of the ten most dangerous roads in the US), Colorado hwy 6. Lots of traffic and campers took a lot of fun out of the drive and during the one part at 12,035 ft we had the seat heater on and the heater blasting away. The M5 is the petfect road trip car. Now it's time for some relaxation in Vail!
